The CPI. Financial Analysis

The CPI should utilize the techniques of financial analysis to determine if their efforts can generate a considerate amount of revenue. It should engage into prospects of growth that can maximize the value of the firm and increase the amount of wealth by the shareholders (Cho, 1987).Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The CPI. The recent trading price of the stock was $58.87 with a ratio of price to earnings of 24.06 and $2.45 as the earnings per share (Company, 1985). At the end of the year 2012, the P/E was 10.56, the trading price was at $54.43 and the earnings per share at $5.15, this is a clear indication that the investors are paying more of the share per stock in the current year and their earnings are at a lower rate (Company, 1985). The Colgate Palmolive may be overvalued. A high price per earning indicates that the investors are willing to pay more of the stocks because of their anticipation of a higher growth rate in the near future. A low price per earnings makes the investors to assume that the earnings in the future may be constrained (Company, 1985; Cho, 1987). In comparison with the Colgate Palmolive, an assumption of the CPI’s P/E ratio is given as 7 with 14 as the industry average. The current P/E of Colgate Palmolive is 24.06. For CPI to attract investors, they must strive to meet the industry average of 14 (Danker, 1971).Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! If additional equity a nd fund growth are issued, there will be a dilution in earnings per share causing a decrease that is short term to the shareholder wealth and the price per earnings (Danker, 1971; Company, 1985). The CPI is restricted only to some certain regions of the country limiting the growth and the options to the investor. As it continues to investigate the options of expansion, the P/E ratios of other competitive companies can be used as a benchmark in attaining a maximum value of the shareholder’s wealth (Danker, 1971). Inelastic, elastic and unitary price elasticity all are linked to the concept of price elasticity. â€Å"They usually measure the demand for the goods and compare them to the fluctuation in the price of the goods† (Danker, 1971, p.21). â€Å"The demand for any good is measured by determining whether it is unitary, elastic or inelastic† (Boone, 2012, p.43). The elasticity usually varies between products because products differ in the rate of demand. In el astic price elasticity, the demand is usually greater than the price, the good or the demand for the product.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The CPI. Financial Analysis specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More â€Å"When a product is elastic, the changes in price level lead to a huge change in the product demand† (Boone, 2012, p.43). Many of the services offered and goods are usually elastic (Boone, 2012; Danker, 1971). In the determination of elasticity of demand, percentage change in quantity of a product is divided by the change in price percentage. â€Å"After the calculations are made and the equation is equal to one or greater, then the product is usually considered elastic†(Yu, 2005, p.21). The opposite of elastic demand is the inelastic demand. If change in demand is less than one, then the product is considered to have inelastic demand. Necessities are usually the products that are consi dered inelastic change in price level does not usually affect the demand of the product. â€Å"Unitary goods are goods that result to no effect on the demand even when there is a price change† (Boone, 2012, p.43). Very few goods are considered unitary (Boone, 2012; Yu, 2005). In the determination of exposing the currency revenue, the VP of marketing and the CFO need to ask themselves; will exposing the currencies revenue place the CFI in a better position or will it continue to give a lower return to its shareholders? (Bernstein Griffin, 2006). The CFO should put into consideration the value of its shareholders first before exposing the revenue currencies. If exposing the revenue will place the business in a better place and the shareholders earn maximum interest then my advice for the option (Bernstein Griffin, 2006; Yu, 2005).Advertising Looking for research paper on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Most businesses do not operate in a vacuum. When making plans of the business, one has to consider the world, country, state and the neighborhood. The local factors are mostly considered as the macroeconomic factors while the international and national trends are the macroeconomic factors (Sloman, 2005). When putting into consideration the macroeconomic trends, one must look at how the overall business environment is (Forgang Einolf, 2007). If there is increased rate of unemployment, bankruptcies and foreclosures in homes, then the consumers may have a bad attitude towards making any purchase. These can be used in decision making by scaling down of plans of purchasing inventory a business being committed to expansion projects that are costly (Bernstein Griffin, 2006; Sloman, 2005). The local trends in a region or neighborhood can have an impact on any business. One should not only consider the economic trends of the premises of the business but also the environment for the consume rs (Fosin Mlambo, 2001). The micro conditions usually have a direct effect of the operation of any business. The decisions usually are to be based on the falling and rising expectations of the consumers. A business can survive if it tailors if it tailors its marketing options to lower expectations in order to cut down on the expenses (Fosin Mlambo, 2001; Sloman, 2005). The media usually distorts the bad economic times both in the local and the international levels. When these are done, the business needs to make its own observations (Forgang Einolf, 2007). The bad economic news usually presents an opportunity for businesses. The company is usually a mini economy. The trends in sales, profit and expenses should be put into consideration. To acquire this, the business should be well positioned in the market which is competitive (Fosin Mlambo, 2001; Sloman, 2005). News about the world or neighborhood should not lead into making decisions that may undermine the success of the busine ss. People usually don’t stop buying in down trends but instead buy less. The change in buying habits can still lead a business into making a profit (Forgang Einolf, 2007). The business decisions must be balanced with the understanding of the economic trends and the experiences from interactions with customers. The business must develop a feel for the economic trends and also look at the opportunities that defy the trends (Forgang Einolf, 2007; Fosin Mlambo, 2001). The net income is usually obtained after all the deductions are removed from the companies’ revenue (Barr, 1993). For CPI the net income is Year 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Revenue $30.10 $34.20 $38.10 $40.40 $45.60 $50.00 Operating expenses Selling, general, admin $16.10 $17.20 $18.90 $19.50 $21.40 $24.30 Depreciation $4.10 $4.40 $4.80 $4.90 $5.30 $5.70 Interest expense $0.45 $0.56 $0.69 $0.73 $0.78 $0.81 Taxes $1.10 $1.30 $1.70 $1.90 $2.00 $2.10 Total expense $21.75 $23.46 $26.0 9 $27.03 $29.48 $32.91 NET INCOME $8.35 $10.74 $12.01 $13.37 $16.12 $17.09 (Barr, 1993; Forgang Einolf, 2007) Cash flows Year 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Operating cash flows future value $4.25 $6.34 $7.21 $8.47 $10.82 $11.39 Increase in fixed assets $1.30 $2.40 $0.90 $0.00 $4.90 $2.10 Free cash flows $2.19 $3.94 $6.31 $8.47 $5.92 $9.29 PVIF 0.943 0.89 0.816 0.735 0.681 0.666 Present Value Cash Flows $2.06517 $3.5066 $5.41896 $6.22545 $4.03152 $6.18714 (Barr, 1993) The Net Present Value This is usually the value of the net inflows that is generated by the project. These are usually the most reliable measure in capital budgeting as it accounts for the value of money in the form of time (Colander, 1995). Year 2012 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 Net cash flow $2.06517 $3.5066 $5.41896 $6.22545 $4.03152 $6.18714 Present value factor 0.943 0.89 0.816 0.735 0.681 0.666 Present value of cash flows $1.947455 $3.120874 $4.421871 $4.575706 $2.745465 $4.120635 (Co lander, 1995; Forgang Einolf, 2007) The total present value of cash flows – 20.932006 Less initial investment – 18.000000 Net present value – $2.932006 The CPI has a positive net present value. This project is important to CPI as it enables the company to recover its initial outlay of $18.00. It also enables the company and their shareholders to meet their finance charge and as it generates an additional surplus of $2.93. The positive net present value shows an increase in the wealth of the shareholders. The dollar value of the NPV is important as this indicates that the value of the dollar is stable. These enable the firm to be able to meet all its expenditures (Barr, 1993; Colander, 1995). In making his decision, the CEO of the company has to put in mind the value of the shareholders. The shareholders are the ones who keep the firm stable and therefore should be in the forefront while making decisions. The working environment of the business is also a factor to be considered in making decisions (Sepp, 2012). The environment should be favorable to the consumers with adequate security. When the environment is unfavorable and the government is too much into a business, that business is likely to fail. The simplification strategies by the government are usually designed to reduce uncertainty and regulatory complexity. Making the economic environment in which a business operates safe for the consumers will also boost the operations of the business (Colander, 1995; Sepp, 2012). In conclusion, I would support the above mentioned project as it mainly considers increasing the shareholder wealth. The project has a positive net present value and this shows that a value that maximizes the company will develop exploit and develop many positive NPV projects as it can. This is usually called capitalization. References Barr, N. A. (1993). Poland : income support and the social safety†¦ by N A Barr. Washington, D.C: World Bank. Bernstein, M., Grif fin, J. M. (2006). Existent vs. Extant

Existent vs. Extant Existent vs. Extant Existent vs. Extant By Mark Nichol What’s the difference between existent and extant? It might be more appropriate to ask, what’s the difference between exists and â€Å"is extant†? Existent usually seems awkward to me; exists or â€Å"to exist† often seems more suitable. (Even a comparative sentence such as â€Å"Unicorns are just as existent as umbrellas† seems odd and not just because of the subject matter; though the meaning is not exactly the same, I would instead write, â€Å"Unicorns are just as likely to exist as umbrellas.†) The root word for both terms is exist, from the Latin term existere, which means â€Å"to emerge† or â€Å"to stand forth† (hence the ex- element, which means â€Å"out of† or â€Å"from†), as well as â€Å"appear† or â€Å"be.† The adjective existent derives from the noun existence, which stems from the Latin term existentia, itself coming from existentem, which means you guessed it, â€Å"existent.† (The second syllable, from sistere, which means â€Å"cause to stand,† is also found in assist and subsist and their variants.) Synonyms include inherent (verb form inhere), from the Latin term inhaerere, â€Å"to stick in or to,† and the aforementioned subsist, which has a connotation of minimal survival. Several other words that include the root exist are coexist (â€Å"exist together† or â€Å"live together peacefully†) and preexist (â€Å"to exist beforehand†), as well as existential, which refers to a philosophy centering on the absence of certainty about morality, which has overshadowed the generic meanings of â€Å"grounded in existence† or â€Å"relating to existence.† And then there’s the unfortunately obsolete existimation, a synonym for esteem or estimation. So, what about extant? Its Latin origin is extare, which means â€Å"stand out, be visible, exist,† but it has acquired a slightly different connotation a more extended one than existence: It means â€Å"in existence,† even â€Å"still in existence.† Thus, to say that something exists and to say that it is extant are two distinct statements. What this means is that extant is appropriate for describing something that still remains or survives, though it is reasonable to assume that something might not do so. It’s employed usually in references to artifacts and documents, or to species and other categories of biological classification. Something that exists, by contrast, merely is. Advantages and Disadvantages of Using Technology

Chief among there is its convenience, efficiency and effectiveness in work, study, and research. It must be said that there are a number of substantial problems associated with the phenomenon of modernized technology. The one that springs immediately to mind is the potential risk of overusing technology in our lives. At the other end of the spectrum, there are many and varied merits to the concept of easily accessible up-to-date technology. Perhaps most importantly, it assists people to carry out their work faster. In my own experience, I found that technological appliances such as computer and mobile phone have assisted me a great deal in my occupation. As an accountant, I usually liaise with my clients to discuss about their account issues. Sometimes, problems can be solved via only a phone call. In addition, the aid of computer has reduced amount of my work significantly. At the end of the day, the positives effects of using digital technology and its convenience and efficiency for most people are more convincing than the negative aspects. If digital technology were never invented, our lives would be never wonderful as they should be. There is a school of thought which contends that features, talents and shortcomings humanity is born with determine our social skills and growth considerably more than any education and real-life scenarios throughout our lives. From my personal perspective, I am unable to concur with this view. First and foremost, it is clearly evident that while beasts inherit all the intuition needed for existence when they come into the world, humanity is virtually useless at birth and takes the first 20 years of life acquiring survival prowess. / To begin with, it is immediately apparent that off spring inherit incredible genetic †hard-wired† abilities at birth, but unless they are encouraged to evolve these, such talents will manifest themselves. / First and foremost, it is clearly evident that if an individual has skill at something, it becomes pparent in earlier youth. People do not wake up one morning as excellent/superb athletes or academics at the age of 35. Similarly, lack of ability or learning difficulties are usually noticed at a very young age. This strongly recommends that babies are neither born with distinct abilities nor they are. †¦.. At the end of the day, in the course of our daily existence, any educative processes and life-changing events exert far g reater control than aspects, natural abilities as well as weak points that are contained in our genetic make-up.

Expansionary Economic Policy Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Expansionary Economic Policy - Essay Example Fiscal policy stands for the power possessed by the federal government to tax as well as spend with an intension of achieving the goals of the economy. On the other hand, monetary policy deals with the important programs that make an attempt of increasing or decreasing the nation’s level of business activities through the legal regulation of money supply and credit. Despite the difference between the two, they both have a common goal of either decreasing or increasing the level of the business activities. A better understanding of the above two terms and what they stand for can be handled in the following subheadings. The Theory of Monetary and Fiscal Policy The theory of monetary and fiscal policy reveal that monetary policy stands for the whole process through which the central bank, government, and even the monetary authority are able to take control over three major aspects. The three major aspects include the money supply, interest rates that are meant to achieve the set objectives of stabilizing the economy, and availability of money in the economy. The monetary theory reflects on how one can be able to design the optimum monetary policy without interfering with the lives of other people. The theory goes further to give a suggestion that the monetary policy tends to rest on the relationship that exists between the price at which money can be borrowed, interest rates in an economy, and the total amount of supply of money (Persson 45-46). In addition, the money and fiscal policy make use of several tools in controlling the country’s economic growth, the exchange rates, as well as inflation. It must be noted that the exchange rates can only happen when there is another currency from a foreign country. However, if the currency tends to be under a monopoly of issuance, then there exist high chances that the regulation system might issue the currency through the existing banks, which might end up being tied to a central bank that can easily be con trolled by the authority in altering the money supply and influencing the interest rates. The theory gives an overview of the roles played by the policymakers in regulating the inflation in an economy. Policymakers play a big role in making time-to-time credible announcements that are aimed at informing the citizens on the changes in the interest rates and the amount of money available for borrowing. The theory reflects on the two ways in which the decision made by the policymakers can affect the inflation. In the first case, if firms and other consumers are made to believe that policymakers are working towards lowering the inflation, then there is a likelihood of a true anticipation of lower prices in the near future compared to the current ones. On the other hand, if employees tend to expect high prices in the near future, then there are high chances for employees to draw contracts that entail high wages. This is because employees aim at covering up the high prices in the economy through earning a relatively higher income. However, in an ideal economy, there is always a likelihood of introduction of a wage-setting behavior that is meant to solve such cases that have been mentioned above. The wage setting behavior attempts to balance the relationship between the employee and employer. In case the employees are receiving lower wages that cannot meet the demands of the high prices, then the

Purchasing behaviour of young people at the university as far as Essay

Purchasing behaviour of young people at the university as far as purchase of smart phones is concerned - Essay Example Appendices 16 Research question: 16 Background 16 Methodology and sample 16 Sample questionnaire 17 Executive summary The study is aimed at researching the purchasing behaviour of young people at the university as far as purchase of smart phones is concerned. Over the past few decades, there has been widespread innovation and innovation in the ICT field. This has seen the introduction of smart phones that are almost similar and in some cases even arguable better than computers. To establish on how this environment has influenced the students in universities, the research was done by using of structured questionnaires as well as random interviews on campus. The questionnaires were prepared and circulated to a group of fifty students that were randomly selected in order to make the findings as objective as possible. The collected data was then manipulated using SPSS software. The research was mainly based on the characteristics of brand name, the price, the smart phone features, cost a nd last but not least, the gender of the buyers. As the research established, most students bought the smart phones due to the functionalities like Wi-Fi for purposes of convenience. However, peer pressure was also seen as one of the main contributing factors in the purchase decisions of the students. 1. Introduction 1.1 Terms of reference The participants of the research were university students. What inspires students to acquire smart phones may not be the same as what inspires other people in the society to acquire smart phones. For instance, students like following trends and most will buy a smart phone if all their friends buy them. In addition to this, students will often consult with their colleagues when trying to do some research before they buy a phone. The research carried out sought to establish a number of questions:- What informs the purchase decisions for smart phones by students? What do students seek out in the phones they purchase? Where do students get the relevan t information that informs their purchase decisions for smart phones? 1.2. Background Needless to say, the smart phone does more than just help the owner to keep in touch with friends and families. This device also helps one in carrying out various computing processes. In fact, there has been a widespread debate on the possibility of the Smartphone totally replacing the computer. The spread of the Smartphone use has especially been fuelled by the entrance of more affordable models by the different manufacturers. The smart phone revolution came hand in hand with the revolution in gaming consoles, PDAs, Cameras, GPS as well as other important revolutionary concepts in ICT. The introduction of open source applications on the android platform has made the maintenance of the Smartphone more affordable on the lean budget of a student. For instance, instead of having to pay monthly subscriptions for applications, there are many developers on the open source platform that use the General Pu blic User licence on their apps. In addition to this, companies like Huawei among many others have also developed inexpensive Smart phones that have almost the same functionalities like their more expensive counterparts. Some experts believe this is one for the main contributing factors towards the increase in the use of smart phones by university students. 2. Literature survey In order to understand the ownership of smart phones among university students, there is need to review the industry with respect to the different brands

Mobile Phones Essay Example for Free

Mobile Phones Essay My cell phone is my best friend. Its my lifeline to the outside world. Carrie Underwood Like every body here my cell phone is my best friend. Thanks to martin cooper who has invented such a lovely gadget which has stored a mini world in it. and thanks to Android Inc who has given such a beautiful OS where we can download many apps. And coming to the topic now I am basically not so extrovert so that it helps me a lot in passing my time especially when I feel lonely. I never feel bad that I am staying away from home because whenever I want where ever I am I can Speak to my Parents and fight with my brother. And I can access to FB and can chat with all my friends. Where ever I go If I can see some thing beautiful I don need to worry that I am not carrying may camera with me. I have my mobile phone which can replace the camera and will give beautiful pictures. Unfortunately, although it may be a good idea for youngsters to have them, not one of them would accept a simple basic cell phone that only made calls and sent SMS would they? Although the increase in cell phone popularity may not have been expected to reach such a high level, the manufacturers have improved the cell phone enormously in a very short space of time. Manufacturers and Computer Experts have introduced the possibility of giving your phone personality by introducing cellular phone wallpapers. The internet has been a big help with obtaining wallpaper directly available online. Now, using the cell phones own camera, images can be used as wallpaper and even sent to other phones. If you prefer you can use an image you have captured previously on your own digital camera but the process takes a little longer to install. Why not add some text as well, possibly something funny to your cellular phone wallpaper, just to add a little more of your personality. Those people that have older models may not be able to do this but it really shouldnt matter or make you feel as if you are missing out on something. Cell phone ring tones are another way of giving you phone that individual feel so even if your phone cannot change its background, you may find that the ring tone can be changed to make your model more individual. You must never forget what the cell-phone is actually for and remember that sending a SMS text does not need the most popular background or ring tone to help it on its way! Functionality does not necessitate cellular phone wallpapers; their use is only to dress up your phone and for the purpose of flaunting your cell-phones high technology features, nothing more. Try to bear in mind that not everyone is interested in your life and conversations so as a final point try to think of others when you use your phone. Many people will judge you by how you use your cell-phone as it shows what type of person you are. There are many locations where it is not suitable, or accepted that a cell phone should be used, and you will have more respect from others if you turn it off when you are in this type of situation. Good behavior can be catching and yours may lead others to do the same, be different, do not do what others do just because it is easier. It is a two-way thing, if you exhibit telephone etiquette, the people around you will do the same. Now with the fast paced life that most of us live with in juggling work and family we have entered into the mobile Internet era. I, myself thought I would never need a mobile phone with internet access so when I purchased my current phone which is a smart phone I was surprised how much I rely on the internet use.

Academics versus Writing Centered Classes Essay -- Literature English

One of the biggest debates in composition theory seems to be the notion of fostering the â€Å"creative impulse† versus â€Å"structure† in the writing classroom. We have run into this argument time and again in class, and it is waged on a larger scale in the â€Å"Bartholomae and Elbow Debate† in terms of academic versus writing centered classes. In class we have discussed â€Å"structure† as grammar, and the â€Å"creative impulse† as the desire students have to break the rules of language in their own creative endeavors. Bartholomae and Elbow provide us with natural extensions of this argument in their own debate. The â€Å"academic classroom† according to Bartholomae is more beneficial to students, as they gain a sense of intertextuality and learn how to write and respond to the academic writing that has preceded them ( i.e. critical theory and literature). Elbow on the other hand fosters the idea that students will learn how to write mor e effectively within smaller writing communities that are created right within the classroom itself and spends more time in his own classes with that side of the issue. This is the conflict that we will run into no matter what facet of composition theory we discuss. The problem with this debate, however, is that both Elbow and Bartholomae are conceiving of these two (supposedly) oppositional roles too narrowly. They are both at odds concerning the role of each in the writing classroom despite the fact that they see the commonalities. It is important for all teachers of writing to address this debate, and be able to see past it, which as evidenced in the debate in Cross Talk, Elbow and Bartholomae were not able to do. I feel as if my first personal essay addressed these matters as well, although I did not deal them specific... ...ter good writing. Theories and concepts could be introduced regarding critical analysis, but nothing would be set forth as the proper way to view it. All of this however, may be too much for first year composition students to handle. By keeping the number of major works to a minimum and keeping the required responses and writing assignments short but quite frequent, hopefully it would be possible to keep things from getting too overwhelming, and keep this debate from rearing its ugly head. In Our Modern Urban Lifestyle Essay

Following the development of technology, the quality of life becomes better off. It is attractive enough to live in cities, because people can enjoy a lot of convenient facilities. However, some people believe that many people do not know their neighbours and the sense of community has been lost with the increasing number of people in cities. In this essay the effect of the modern urban lifestyle in cities will be discussed. Nowadays, many people tend to live in cities for different reasons. They move into cities mainly for work. Because they leave early in the morning and come back home late in the evening. They do not want to waste their time on a train or bus. If they live in cities, they do not need to wake up early to take a train or bus. Furthermore, living in cities means that they can easily find places or facilities to fill their every need in the urban life, which is valued in the individual lifestyle rather than the sense of community. On the other hand, many people seem to be more isolated than ever before. Because of focusing on the individual lifestyle in modern time, it is hard to have an opportunity to make a deep relationship with people living around. People do not usually know what happens to their neighbours. Humans are social creatures that cannot be independent of others. As a result, even if there are a lot of convenient places in cities, they cannot fulfil satisfaction of people. Most people in cities fall into the sense of isolation. They need to realise the negative effect of their lifestyle and make effort to join in communities in their lives, so that they can live in a simpler way of life.

In Bangladesh the average monthly income is about 500 dollar a month which is 35000 in Taka.So the income scale is medium. According to our survey we figured out that microwave oven is used by the people whose income scale is about 70000-80000 or higher in the month. If we consider the social class, we found the people from t he higher and higher middle class are using the microwave oven and the rest of the people are comfortable with the gas stove. In Bangladesh, the market of microwave oven is not that good enough. Our company cannot sustain in this limited amount of market. The company actually wants a huge market to do business. In this case, we got only one option and that s to expand the usage of microwave oven in the country and to do so we need to target a new segment. We can’t just work on only two classes. Rather we need to concentrate on the middle class and upcoming middle class people. To expand our market, we targeted the middle class and upcoming middle class families and to do so, we need to promote our product as a permanent need. For example, if we think of a house appliance, we always think about a tv, refrigerator, furniture etc. So we need to work in such a way that we can point that microwave oven is a must in a home appliance. We have gone thru most of the middle class familie s recently to get their opinion and found that they can actually afford to buy a micro wave oven. The cost of a microwave oven is about 7000-10000taka but the problem is the usage cost. They say microwave oven consumes lot of electricity and it creates a huge electricity bills which sometime get beyond affordability. Even most people believe the oven make food tastes bad. Many of them don’t know how to use the microwave oven; even many of them misinterpret the microwave oven that it is a source of cooking food.Yes of course microwave oven is a cooking product but it is not suitable for our Bangladeshi food habit. We cannot cook our food in microwave as it is made on European context. It is very good for ready made food. Since, Bangladeshi people are not habituated in ready made foods; we can promote the oven as a source of freshen up the food by heating it. So the factor that mostly will create problem interfering in Bangladeshi market is: 01. Huge amount of electricity consu mption 02. People misinterpret the product 03. People think oven make food taste badThe most important and common problem is the electricity consumption. Microwave really takes a huge quantity of electricity to operate. To sort out this problem we are concentrating on manufacturing as special kind of oven named the electric convection oven. In this oven it has a special device or an adaptor which make the oven consume less energy and heat the food like the typical microwave ovens. A table is given below Appliance |Temperature |Time |Energy |Cost | |Electric Oven |350 |1 hour |2. 0 kWh |11. 2 | |Electric Convection Oven |325 |1 hour |1. 39 kWh |5. 00 | |We’ve made a compare between the regular oven and our special oven and figured out in average people can actually save 6 taka in every one hour. People may be getting interested on our product because we have made it cost effective. We need to promote our product in a way so that people should realize that microwave oven is not a product to cook, rather it helps people to get the food fresh by heating it. People have misconception about the microwave oven that it makes food taste bad. We need to reduce such perception and imply that there is nothing to do with the tastes. It just heat up the food to make it fresh. Such promotion may get a huge response because nowadays people are getting busy day by day. Even in many families, both husband wife is doing job and therefore they don’t have much time for cooking. Even if we look at the bachelors, they still don’t get any time to cook. Microwave oven is the best solution to cope up with their busy days. In the segment of busy people they would get a relief of cooking several times a day. All they need to do is to cook food once a day and get fresh food all day by heating with microwave oven.We can also promote the product by giving a recipe based on microwave cooking as a bonus. In fact we will also provide them with special bowls suitable for mic rowaves. We can also provide a facility of membership card to a particular shopping mall where they can buy their necessary groceries in a minimum discount. In this way, people may get interest of buying our product. We can also make the microwave open which can be operated by the remote control. It will be easy for the users to operate it. The advantage of microwave oven is it makes the food fresh.Maximum people faced such problems in cooking and that is when food is been cooked in the afternoon, we prefer to have that in dinner too. So the food that was cooked in the afternoon need to heat up on the gas stove which makes the food dry. So to regain the previous taste, more spices and water should be given and again re cook the food which is very bothering and also it kills time too. In this case, microwave oven just heat up the food to make it fresh and it do not dry up the food which is an advantage.Tagline: Though we are manufacturing and marketing the product in Bangladesh for t he genuine people, I’ve considered THREE taglines â€Å"WHITES; FOR THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, WITH THE PEOPLE† â€Å"LEMONY FRESH 24HR† â€Å"HEAT IT, FRESH IT† Thing we need to think is that how will we actually enter the market after targeting our customer. We first thought about making a permanent factory to get the market permanently but we cannot do that for many circumstances. The Bangladeshi infrastructure is not suitable for our company. Moreover in Bangladesh, political turmoil, labor strike and most important problem load shedding is the daily situation. Our company cannot sustain with these problem. In this situation we are planning to get involve to a domestic company in Bangladesh in joint venture. We are interested of making a joint venture with Walton. Walton doesn’t manufacture micro ovens. So it might be a good opportunity for them to make a new segment of product in their company and we have the advantage of using their infrastruc ture. More over we can make a deal with them such as we will make the factory jointly by spreading 50/50 and our company will provide all the necessary machineries. Walton will maintain and hire the labor to manufacture our product.Walton and whites works in a joint venture and so we can use their distribution channel. In the contract of joint venture we will offer them 70/30 profit and bargain the profit margin up to 40%. Then we will also bargain about the selling of our manufacturing product. We will try to convince them allow us to sell our product on the other Asian countries by exporting. Such as if 100 micro ovens are manufactured in the industry of joint venture, 50 micro ovens will be sold in the Bangladeshi market and there would be a 50/50 profit share on the first fifty ovens. Then they must allow us to sell the other 50 micro ovens to other Asian countries by exporting thru Walton and we would give them 20% profit or may bargain up to 30% for the last 50 products. Accord ing to the contract Walton will maintain the labor cost and we have the right to employ our own expert representatives to watch out the both the internal and external situation. Our company wills not toler any trade union inside the venture premises. Government officers are not allowed as deputation. Yearly audit should be done by the renowned auditors. Finally Walton cannot terminate this joint venture within 10yrs. It would be good for both of us because Walton got a new segment of their product line, and they can make some extra profit from the product and our benefit is our market is been diversifying. In fact the best advantage we got in this joint venture is reducing the labor cost as the labor cost in Bangladesh is very cheap. The factory overhead cost is very cheap. People here actually want to do overtime job in a certain payment where in the western countries people don’t want to do job more than 8 hr.In our point of view, they should take the offer because by workin g with us, they might get many resourceful information, technologies, can train skilled workforce to develop their industry. The government might verify this thing and to develop their domestic industries they might be very co operative with us. For example we don’t need to give duty fee in the port, more over we might get a facility to export our product from the Bangladeshi port on behalf the Walton in a half tax rate. The disadvantage of this joint venture is the leak of technology and information. If the country’s national level business policy frequently changes, it may affect our company profit. The most important issue is the corruption. If the corruption can’t be controlled, law and order situation is not good in the country and lack of good governance may create a huge problem in this joint venture. Working in Bangladesh as a joint venture it saves a lot of money because it has less responsibility such as labor cost and maintains, political turmoil, load shedding etc. The home country would take care of these. The process we are saving a huge budget is called the economy of scale as it utilize the money very efficient way.Establishing a factory in Bangladeshi premises would cost lot of money. We believe our company is working not only for the highest income category or group but for the every level of people. We are highly dedicated on fulfilling the customer need. We don’t work just for a profit. Considering the people’s need and the income status, we offer a facility of buying our product in an installment. People can buy our product in 3 month Period installment. It might be a chance of encouraging people to buy our product. To inform the people about our product, we choose to make commercial advertisement in various public channels.Nowadays cooking program in TV channels has gained a good reputation. In this case, what we can do is to sponsor a cooking program or we can arrange such program in TV channels based on the recipe which is related on microwave cooking. For some reason, if the budget gets tight, we will request some of those cooking programs to use our microwave and influence indirectly the audience to buy our product. We can also promote our product by giving the opportunity of demo using in the retail stores in the country. We also can arrange a flash mob in the busiest locality to get the product in the peoples mind.We can also sponsor many inter country sports to spread the name of our product. In the last step we will also try a pilot operation on marketing our product in the Bangladesh defenses especially in the Army. The name of this pilot operation is called â€Å"THE VETERAN†. In the hill tracks or in the borders our soldiers face a lot of problem on getting fresh food. They often complained about it. They can’t get fresh food just because in those areas they are in the call of duty for the nation. They are not authorized to leave their position or to return their barracks for the sake of the country’s safety.Yes there are cooking facilities in the barrack but there is certain time of three days meal. If a person misses that time, he or she will not be allowed to get the meal. So in this case, they have to cook it for their own. Now the soldiers in the duty cannot often return in time. In this case, they don’t need to cook again rather all they need to do is to heat up the meal. So to sort out such problem, we might influence them to use our product in 20% discount rate. This discount is named as the veteran rate. We are not actually just doing business but we also took the oath of serving our nation.

Failures at Conventional Married Life Failures in Wooing the Feminine Women in The Tramp and One Week essays

Failures at Conventional Married Life Failures in Wooing the Feminine Women in The Tramp and One Week essays Both Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton are often heralded as cinematic comedic pioneers. However, in both of these comedian's short films, entitled "The Tramp" and "One Week," each comedian makes use of common stereotypes of women, and also of common stereotypes of romantic relationships between men and women, to illustrate their comedic creations' personality deviations from the conventional masculine roles of domestic success. Both men in the two films function as failures in the domestic realm. This parallels their failures in conventional life and successes at comedic life. At the end of both films, rejections of conventional domesticity and the feminine become symbolic of these men's failures at conventional, masculine life, but also of their success in the world-upside down comedic, even heroic realm, of unconventional physical prowess and This is not to deny the groundbreaking efforts of both comedians. Surely, one of the seminal works of early comedy cinema is undoubtedly Charlie Chaplin's 1915 short film "The Tramp" because of its introduction of Chaplin's famous persona, The Little Tramp. As is indicative of the film's title, this story sets the tone and theme of almost all of the films Chaplin's major comedic character was to appear in. In this particular film, the tramp's first incarnation is that of a hobo who finds love by the side of a road. There is a strong association in the film between food, femininity, and the central protagonist's desire to find a place in a world. For instance, at the beginning of the short,' another tramp-like character, only a vicious one, tricks Chaplin's character into giving up his only sandwich for a brick. Because of this, the tramp must eat grass. But because of the tramp's willingness to trust he finds a more permanent source of sustenance. When the deceitful tramp tries to take advantage of a farmer's daughte...

Term paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Term Paper Example These customs may contradict with the common truth in a multicultural society. Some customs belonging to a particular community may appear to be evil or good in a different community. Therefore, a particular customary practice may have different consequences depending on the society judging the practice. The act of believing ones custom is the best or king over all customs is referred to as relativism (4). Customs define the morally accepted and morally rejected practices for a given society. Among the Japanese, bowing when greeting someone is considered to be a moral practice. This forces foreigners to forego their practices and adopt those of the locals. In Muslim countries, women have to veil their faces before appearing in public, and their hair should be covered always. Several societies consider keeping long hair and beard to be immoral. Customs upheld by communities define the right and wrong practices, which at times can be oppressive. In such cases, customs are considered to be the baseline of moral beliefs in the society. In Germany, the Nazis were against the Jewish religion and the leaders decided to execute them (6). According to Nazis, this was the accepted way of eliminating the Jews, but was considered to be evil by the Americans due to different customs. Individual values are gotten from parents, teachers, religious leaders, and historical books. Children internalize values learnt from different sources and form a sense of good or bad. This leads to the differences in moral values between different cultures. Ancient customs or cultures have different moral values, which are learnt by the children and subsequent generations. The conscience of a human being is also a product of the moral life. Conscience helps individuals identify wrong acts depending on personal and society values contributed to by culture. An individual picks up several values during childhood and along his or her lifetime that give the definition of a good human being (7). Cer tain individuals may adapt different values from other people within the same community due to external influence. In Germany, some Nazis rebelled, held out, and fled from the mass execution of Jews by Hitler. According to them, execution was immoral though it was being practiced by their fellow Nazis. Moral values can be influenced by external cultures and one’s own values cease to be superior to that of others. The society defines the morally acceptable values, but individuals may change their values depending on the influence. However, every individual or society believes to hold the highest values irrespective of their nature. Holding certain values does not mean they are the overall good, but they influence a person’s view of the right and wrong practices. This makes moral values to be relative to the society and the upbringing of an individual (9). The religion also determines the values regarded by an individual as good or bad. Some people believe that God revea ls the truth to human beings, which also defines the good and the bad. This forces them to line up their values according to the religious revelations and form a point of judging others. This makes them believe their values to be absolutely right and can act as the standard goodness. Some individuals do not believe in Godly revelations, therefore, their values are based on culture (11). Different objective points provide different justifications of moral assessments.
